Which cabin luggage trolley fits which airline? Suitable models 2026

The "55 × 40 × 23 cm" size is the standard for the major network airlines – but it's far from universal. Ryanair and TUI fly require a 20 cm depth, KLM a narrower 35 cm width, while easyJet is more generous at 56 × 45 × 25 cm but only includes the large cabin bag free of charge on certain fares. We've checked every in-stock cabin trolley against the manufacturer's dimensions and the current airline rules. Below you'll find the lightest suitable model for each airline.

Airline hand luggage rules at a glance

The small bag (personal item) is included on every fare with all nine airlines: 40 × 30 × 15 cm on Lufthansa, Condor, Austrian and KLM, 40 × 30 × 25 cm on Eurowings, 40 × 30 × 20 cm on Ryanair and TUI fly, 45 × 36 × 20 cm on easyJet, and 40 × 30 × 15 cm on Turkish Airlines.

Lufthansa, Eurowings, Condor, Austrian, Turkish Airlines: 55 × 40 × 23 cm

Ryanair and TUI fly: 55 × 40 × 20 cm

Three centimetres less depth rules out many standard trolleys. 48 ranges fit this limit – here are the five lightest:

On Ryanair, the large cabin bag is only included with "Priority & 2 Cabin Bags" or on the Regular and Flexi Plus fares; on TUI fly it's always an extra-cost add-on. If you're happy sticking to the free small bag allowance, you'll find suitable options further down.

KLM: 55 × 35 × 25 cm

KLM is the outlier: 35 cm width instead of the usual 40 cm. Only 13 ranges meet this – the five lightest:

Important for KLM: in Economy, the large and small pieces together must not exceed 12 kg.

easyJet: 56 × 45 × 25 cm (large cabin bag)

The most generous allowance – 75 ranges fit, including virtually every 55 cm trolley in the tables above. However, the large cabin bag is only free with easyJet Plus, on the FLEXI fare or with an Up Front/Extra Legroom seat; otherwise, only the small bag at 45 × 36 × 20 cm counts.

Good to know for frequent easyJet flyers: these 9 ranges are larger than 55 × 40 × 23 cm and only count as cabin baggage with easyJet – the lightest of these are:

One trolley for all nine airlines: max. 55 × 35 × 20 cm

If you fly with a mix of airlines, you need the smallest common size: 55 cm high, 35 cm wide, 20 cm deep. Currently, only 5 in-stock ranges meet this:

Almost everywhere (all airlines except KLM), any trolley up to 55 × 40 × 20 cm from the Ryanair table above will fit as well.

Free on every fare: trolleys and bags for the small item allowance

Ryanair (40 × 30 × 20 cm): There are trolleys for this size too – as well as bags cut precisely to fit:

easyJet (45 × 36 × 20 cm): A little more room, so these also fit:

For the personal item allowance on Lufthansa, Condor, Austrian and KLM (40 × 30 × 15 cm), we currently don't stock a trolley or bag with a maximum depth of 15 cm – a slim laptop bag or a narrow backpack is the better choice here.
